Place the farro in a fine mesh sieve and give it a good rinse under cold water before adding it to the Instant Pot. Add the water or broth and salt, give everything a good stir, then lock the lid of the Instant Pot.
Cook the farro on high pressure for 8 minutes.
Allow the farro to natural release for 7 minutes once the initial cooking time is done. At the 7 minute mark, press the quick release button to release any remaining pressure and manually vent any remaining steam.
Remove the farro from the instant pot and drain off any extra water. Serve immediately, store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, or freeze.
