Salt bagels are a classic New York treat and so easy for you to make at home! Dense and chewy on the inside, and deliciously crispy on the outside with the perfect amount of flakey sea salt on the top. Delicious!

Salt Bagels - Made From Scratch

-Flour (Bread or All Purpose) -Water -Baking Soda -Yeast -Honey or Agave Syrup -Kosher Salt -Large Crystal Sea Salt

Make the bagel dough by mixing the salt, yeast, flour water and honey in a bowl. 

Step 1 - Make The Dough

Allow the dough to rise for 3.5-3 hours.

Step 2 - Rise!

Front Range Fed

Divid the dough into balls, then shape each ball into a ring by poking a hole in the middle. Allow the rings to rise overnight.

Step 3 - Sauce!

Boil the bagels in water with baking soda for 1-2 minutes, then place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.

Step 4 - Boil The Bagels!

Bake the bagels for 8 minutes, then rotate and bake for an additional 8-12 minutes. Remove from the oven then allow to rest for 30 minutes.

Step 5 - Bake The Bagels!

Use the float test to make sure your bagels are ready to boil. Place one in a bowl of cold water. If it sinks, place it back on the baking sheet and wait 15 minutes and try again. If it floats, it's ready.
