Easy Roasted Elephant Garlic

If you’ve never had Roasted Garlic before, you’re in for a treat! Roasting garlic in the oven produces a mild garlic flavor that's delicious as a simple appetizer and can be used in a number of ways, such as a garlic paste, on garlic bread, in soups, pastas, or on asimple piece of toast.

Roasted Elephant Garlic

-Garlic Bulbs  -Olive Oil -Salt & Black Pepper Optional: grated Parmesan cheese, crushed red pepper flakes

Start by cutting the tops of the garlic head off to expose the cloves.

Step 1

Pour olive oil over the tops of the garlic cloves and wrap tightly with aluminum foil.

Step 2

Roast the garlic in the oven at 400 degrees for about 45 mintues. 

Step 3

Front Range Fed

Remove the garlic from the oven, allow to cool, then squeeze the roasted cloves out of the head into a bowl.  

Step 4

Add some additional oil to the garlic and mash it in the bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add Parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper flakes if desired.

Step 5

Front Range Fed

Serve roasted garlic with some crusty bread, or add to soups, salad dressings, or pastas for a delicious mild garlic flavor.
